Instructor Training

J & T First Aid Consulting Inc. is an Instructor Development Centre, selected by Red Cross, to guide instructor candidates through the entire process, including certifications, teaching experiences and recertifications.

These courses provides candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach:


The candidates are expected to have finely tuned First Aid CPR/AED technical skills.  This course focuses on how to teach and facilitate; not on learning First Aid CPR/AED.

First Aid & CPR Instructors support the Red Cross First Aid Program through the delivery of First Aid and CPR courses. Candidates enter our comprehensive Instructor Development Program, designed to prepare them to support dynamic, learner-centred classroom environments.

This course has a 5 step approach:

1. Evaluate Skills and Check Prerequisites

2. Fundamentals of Instruction

3. Discipline-Specific Classroom Component

4. Teaching Experience

5. Certification


This course is designed for candidates who wish to deliver Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder courses. Course content focuses on instructional techniques, including designing and supporting scenarios, organizing courses, and how to support dynamic, learner-centred classroom environments. Through our Instructor Development Centres, Instructors are supported with state-of-the-art instructional tools to help them customize the learning environment to the various provincial, industry and personal learning needs of the participants.


Certifications are valid for three years. Certification will correspond to the candidate’s completion of the pathway components, and in accordance with the courses they wish to teach. This may include the following:


Must be 18 years of age

Proof of participant-level certification in the discipline-specific course that candidate is desiring certification. For example FAI requires SFA/CPR-C/AED certification, BLSI candidates require a BLS, AM and OT certification; FRI candidates require a FR certification, EMRI candidates require an EMR certification.
