Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

This comprehensive 80-hour course is typically 10 days of in-class work. Students will learn and demonstrate all knowledge and skill required to provide patient assessments, interventions, and ongoing care including transportation to a health care facility.

Course content

Skills taught include but not limited to patient assessment, oxygen delivery and airway management, vehicle extrication, and pharmacology.

This course follows the Occupational Competency Profiles as defined by the College of Paramedics and Paramedic Association of Canada.

If a student wishes to be licensed with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, after successfully completing this course, they will then need to write the EMR Licensing Exam.

Recertification 20-24 hours; includes CPR Level C/AED and one year BLS

Due to the wide variety of certifications and recertifications available in this discipline, this course is not available on a regularly scheduled basis.
